Cleaning and sterilisation
Wash milk-contact parts after every session. Never immerse electrical parts (main unit, remote, or charging cord ends that connect to electronics).
Before first use
- Unpack and identify milk-contact parts versus electrical parts.
- Wash milk-contact parts in warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and air-dry completely.
- If you choose to sterilise milk-contact parts, follow your steriliser or boiling instructions suitable for silicone and BPA-free plastics — then dry fully before assembly.
- Inspect valves and seals for damage before the first session.
After every session
- Pour milk from the collection cup into a clean storage container.
- Disassemble milk-contact parts (cylinders, horn cover, duckbill valves, sealing ring, bottle, conversion head as used).
- Wash with warm soapy water, rinse well, and dry completely before next use or storage.
- Wipe the exterior of the main unit with a slightly damp cloth only — do not rinse under a tap.

What not to wash or immerse
- Main unit / motor housing
- Remote control
- Charging cord and charging ports
- Any electrical connector or battery compartment
Liquid in the motor area can damage the unit and is not covered as normal misuse under warranty exclusions.
Drying
Air-dry parts on a clean rack. Ensure duckbill valves and sealing surfaces are fully dry before reassembly. Do not store parts while damp.
Reassembly
Refit valves and seals firmly and in the correct orientation. Incomplete assembly can reduce suction and increase leak risk. See how Embrae One works for the basic session flow.
Wear inspection
- Check duckbill valves for tears, warping, or permanent open slits.
- Check sealing rings for cracks or flattening.
- Check silicone cylinders for tears or sticky residue that will not wash off.
- Replace damaged parts before the next session.
Replacement schedule for silicone
Silicone parts wear with use, cleaning, and heat. Inspect regularly. Replace duckbill valves, seals, and cylinders when damaged or when suction performance drops after correct assembly. Buy only approved parts when listed and in stock — see replacement parts.
Storage
Store clean, dry parts in a covered container away from direct sun and dust. Keep the main unit powered off and unplugged when stored for long periods.
Travelling
- Pack milk-contact parts separately from the main unit in a clean pouch.
- Carry the charging cord; use only the approved charger/cord supplied or listed by Embrae.
- After travel, re-inspect valves and seals before pumping.
